EVE Online is a player-driven persistent-world MMORPG game for the mac, set in a science fiction space setting. You are a pilot in a customizable ship going through a universe comprising over 7,500 star systems. Most of the star systems are connected to one or more other star systems by means of “stargates”. The star systems can contain several phenomena including, but not limited to: moons, planets, stations, wormholes, asteroid belts and complexes. Definitely one of the better massively multiplayer online role-playing games for the Mac.

PlaneShift is a FREE MMORPG that is actually available for Mac, Windows, and Linux! Released in 2002 PlaneShift has focused on providing a fun and completely free gaming experience. This means that when you sign up you will be able to do everything, will never have to pay for any premium content, or monthly fees, forever. As fun as that sounds, you have to keep in mind that the game is not complete. The developers are still hard at work on it adding content and features so you may find bugs or glitches that may hinder your gameplay. If you can live with that, you can live in the world of PlaneShift. The system requirements are low so this should not be an issue of PlaneShift. Dofus is a Mac and Windows compatible MMORPG that combines the video game and cartoon concepts into one. Embark on quests with your friends or people you read online to capture the six precious Dofus. The graphics in this game are very cartoony and anime like, so fans of the two will probably love playing this game. You can try it for free, and it is a relatively small download. The game has mostly 2-dimensional graphics so system requirements are fairly low. You will need Mac OS X 10.5.4 and a broadband internet connection to run the latest version of Dofus. Arguably the one that started the MMORPG revolution, World of Warcraft has been available for the mac from the beginning. World of Warcraft is a fantasy role playing game set in an online world, where you and thousands of your fantasy role playing peers battle each other and embark on epic quests. The world is so huge, that in fact it can take more then an hour to travel through it depending on circumstances. The graphics are updated fairly regularly, meaning the game stays as appealing as most others in its genre as time goes on. New expansions have also been released which add more hours of fun to the entire experience, along with loads of new weapons, areas, and enemies. The game is so popular that virtual economies have even sprouted around the globe dealing with in game items and currencies.
